Do not buy Walmart Water for Betta Fish

Walmart water never gets treated what i mean is the ammonia is SO High and pH And all that good stuff so when you add it to the tank it is so new to the fish that it puts them in shock and kills them. the reason it didn't kill the others is luck, ive seen the water kill zero and I've seen the water kill 7
you just don't know about Walmart.
Only the strongest betta fish will survive in a tank with water from Walmart. Also, look for a sign of "ick", which looks like white spots on the fish. You can buy "ick" treatment at Walmart or any pet store. We have had the same problems with betta fish dieing in our tanks that were purchased from Walmart.

What do you mean, water from Walmart? Bottled water? Water from Walmart's fish tanks? Walmart brand water? Water from the faucet in the store restroom? Please be specific!

I bought my betta from walmart earlier today and also bought walmart brand water. I did't read this till after I put the betta in it's new home. Hopefully it will be ok. Thankyou for the warning,I'll make sure to buy a different brand.

I use jugs of water from Walmart all the time for my betta (I've had him for almost three months now in a ten gal) and the water hasn't bothered him or the mystery snail at all.

However, I also read a report on how some of their water contains the same crap in tap water. :/ I have to use bottled water though as we have a water softener.

To Villandra, what was meant was the water the Betta's are in when you first purchase them.

To Ketrino, just curious since you said water from Walmart and then further mentioned bottled water & water softener... You can just buy DISTILLED water. Every grocery store, besides & including Walmart, should carry it.

hmmm ... i thought 'DISTILLED' water should NOT be used for bettas ... because all of the natural helpful elements in the water will be 'distilled' out !?!?!
i use spring water or other bottled water. I can't use my household water b/c it is conditioned through a water softener using 'salt' ... can't do that!
maybe distilled is ok if your betta has survived ...
